The airline is introducing larger aircraft and an additional flight on the route between Oslo and Newark.
SAS is introducing larger aircraft and an extra flight on the route between Oslo and Newark in the days surrounding the World Cup in June 2026. The change comes after what the company describes as very high demand from Norwegian travelers who want to follow the national team in the stands.
Larger aircraft and one extra departure
According to SAS, capacity will be increased on flights between Oslo and Newark in the period from June 19 to 23. Three flights, June 19, 20 and 21, will be upgraded from Airbus A321LR to Airbus A330, and an additional flight will also be added on June 23. SAS states that the changes will provide approximately 500 more seats each way during the period.
SAS continues to follow demand
The company says that they will monitor booking developments closely leading up to the championship, and that further capacity increases may be considered if demand continues to rise.
Norway is ready for the World Cup
Norway qualified for the 2026 World Cup after beating Italy 4-1 in a crucial qualifier, according to Reuters and Fifa. The tournament will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
In a separate press release about travel to the championship, SAS writes that they offer two daily flights from Oslo to the New York area, to JFK and Newark, and that several of Norway’s group matches have been added to the Boston and New York New Jersey regions.
